Dave Lennie's analysis of Mother (plus a *SPOILER* from the Moderator!) Dave Lennie questions the Moderator Jeff Laird's new additions to the FAQ! The Moderator's trek to two record stores were in vain =============================================================================== Date: 28 Apr 1991 1548-CDT (Sunday) From: optikhog (Jeffrey Laird) Subject: MJ&S party! I'm going to go rent MJ&S using another man's card! Anyone wish to join me? --- Hey, I was there and it was awesome! This breakthrough has sparked some discussion on this list. For example: --- Date: 29 Apr 1991 0107-CDT (Monday) From: sony (David Lennie) Subject: MJ&S info! i noticed as we watched Mother Jugs & Speed for the second time tonight that in the scene where Mother first buzzes through the group of nuns in his rig, his left front parking light/turn signal is burnt out. is it a mistake, or was the director trying to convey Mother's "burnt-out" attitude to the audience? also, Jeff noticed that the U.S. flag flying over F+B Headquarters is a 1976 Bicentennial flag, thereby confirming the year the movie was made. (Jeff was too lazy to mail this in himself) --- I think that Mother felt he was obligated to have control over the nuns, sort of a "Mother Superior," if you will. Mother's relationship with the nuns goes from playful (at the beginning), to curteous (following [SPOILER!] Leroy's death), and finally back to playful (at the end). Mother seems to have done some serious soul searching between the 2nd and 3rd nun incidents. Netters? As far as the date is concerned, it says 1976 on the video tape's label, but your keen eye for detail noticed the flag waving over F+B. Cool! --- Date: 29 Apr 1991 0109-CDT (Monday) From: sony (David Lennie) Subject: you and MJ&S digest being the MJ&S digest administrator, do you ever mail things in to the list? one would think that you would be one of the most prominent participants, as you were the one that had enough interest in it to start the list. but this is not the case. explain yourself, list person. --- I've submitted things before (check your back issues, Netters!) In fact, I sense a posting of my own in the very near future. So lay off me, man. --- Date: 29 Apr 1991 0120-CDT (Monday) From: optikhog (Jeffrey Laird) Subject: MJ&S FAQ! 1. What kind of humor is Mother, Jugs & Speed? A: Humor of the most irresisable kind! 2. Who does Dick Butkus play in Mother, Jugs & Speed? A: Rodeo! 3. What is Harry Fishbine's nickname? A: Doughnut! --- Date: 29 Apr 1991 1502-CDT (Monday) From: drench (Daniel Rench) Subject: fruitless search I just returned from PRC (the Peoria Record Company) and Rock of Ages. Neither establishment has a copy of the much sought after Mother Jugs & Speed soundtrack album. I should have gone to the record convention yesterday. Perhaps amongst the bootleg Metallica video tapes and Iron Maiden limited edition interview picture discs there was this album. Or perhaps not. I have no way of knowing now. --- That's all for this issue!
